SOCHUM – Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee

The Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) is the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly. It focuses on the protection and promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms around the world. SOCHUM addresses issues such as the rights of indigenous peoples, the treatment of refugees, the elimination of racism and discrimination, and the promotion of cultural cooperation.

In Model United Nations (MUN) conferences, SOCHUM provides a platform for delegates to debate pressing global humanitarian concerns and propose resolutions that reflect international cooperation and ethical diplomacy.
